Situated along the western edge of İzmir’s Bayraklı district, the project site occupies a strategic position adjacent to the Gulf of İzmir, where natural geography and climatic dynamics intersect. Most notably, the prevailing imbat wind a seasonal sea breeze that flows from the west and southwest across the water emerges as the site’s dominant environmental force. Intensified by the peninsula’s landform and the alignment of islands, bays, and perpendicular mountain ranges, the imbat can reach wind forces of 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale during peak summer afternoons.

This wind pattern was not merely treated as a background condition, but as an active design generator. Throughout the masterplanning process, imbat informed key spatial decisions including building orientation, massing, and the arrangement of open spaces. Structures were aligned to optimize natural ventilation, minimize heat accumulation, and foster cross breezes, thereby reducing reliance on mechanical cooling systems.

Additionally, the site’s topography gently sloping toward the shoreline was harnessed to develop a tiered urban layout, where each building mass steps with the terrain, preserving uninterrupted sea views and daylight access for all units. This approach not only supports climatic responsiveness but also enhances the livability and environmental quality of the development.

Together, the integration of wind flow analysis and terrain based organization results in a performance driven urban form, where architecture and landscape respond coherently to the site’s ecological and atmospheric conditions.
