Conceived as a post-disaster response to the devastating earthquakes (7.5 and 7.8 magnitude) that struck Kahramanmaraş and severely impacted Adıyaman, the Nartepe Masterplan reimagines housing and urban life through a two-phased development strategy. Designed for the Adıyaman İndere Reserve Zone, the project aims to provide a rapid and resilient residential solution that meets the urgent housing needs of the local population.

A defining aspect of the plan is its layered center-periphery logic: two primary urban hubs, calibrated in alignment with nearby heritage sites, form the backbone of the green and infrastructural network. These upper centers host commercial and social amenities and are supported by a network of secondary sub-centers, designed to distribute usage density and service access evenly across the site. Between residential volumes, public pocket spaces are introduced to foster interaction and collective use, enhancing the social fabric of the emerging settlement.

The residential component consists of six distinct housing typologies, each tailored for flexible implementation and local adaptation. Accessibility and environmental sensitivity are embedded into the parcel-level design principles: inclusive access ramps ensure barrier-free mobility from parking areas to pedestrian paths; drainage channels integrated with surface slopes manage rainwater efficiently; and retaining walls articulate the site’s natural topography, generating usable green terraces.

The landscape strategy employs a tiered planting system—deciduous and coniferous trees along facades, fruit trees in rear gardens, and climbers on slopes—curating microclimates while reinforcing the visual identity of the public realm. These elements, when combined, reflect a holistic vision of a safe, inclusive, and ecologically grounded post disaster neighborhood.
