The Erkenez Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) project is located in the Erkenez neighborhood of Kahramanmaraş’s Dulkadiroğlu district. Its strategic location near the city center, proximity to major transport networks, and growing infrastructure make it an increasingly important node for regional development.

Location and Context

Situated within Kahramanmaraş OSB, the project hosts facilities for textile, machinery, and food production. It is 15 km from the city center, 5 km from the airport, and directly connected to the D825 highway, providing a strong logistical advantage. Its close proximity to key urban points—such as the Dye Factory (13 km), State Hospital (12 km), and Aziz Sancar Park (10 km)—further enhances its accessibility.

With high solar exposure and prevailing northeast-southwest winds, the site offers ideal conditions for renewable energy generation and natural ventilation.
The project sits on gently sloping terrain, with a steeper gradient along the main road. This topography informed the building placement and circulation design, ensuring efficient functional distribution.

Access and Circulation Strategy

Two main entrance and exit points provide direct connections to the primary transport route. This arrangement creates a circulation axis that enhances accessibility from both ends of the site.

A centralized settlement scheme consolidates main functions for seamless movement between programmatic zones, balancing structural density while maintaining strong spatial relationships. From the central node, functional distribution lines extend outward to define specific zones, creating a clear access strategy tailored to each program’s needs.

Functional Program and Facilities

The OSB integrates industrial units with administrative, commercial, social, and recreational functions to create a comprehensive industrial community.

Key program elements include:
Industrial units supporting textile, machinery, and food production
Administrative buildings: OSB Directorate, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sanayi ve Teknoloji Provincial Directorate, Development Agency, Specialized Finance, and R&D & P&D Centers
Convention Center for professional and business gatherings
Social facilities: mosque, restaurant, open and closed riding arenas, horse shelters, and tennis club with open and closed courts

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

The project prioritizes ecological balance through the integration of renewable energy systems. Groundwater is used for cooling, solar panels improve energy efficiency, and the building design includes climate responsive strategies. Shading structures and eaves protect pedestrian circulation routes while improving thermal comfort.

Parking and Connectivity

Multiple open parking areas are positioned near each office block for immediate access, complemented by a covered parking facility beneath the social building, connected to other units via dedicated internal roads. A strong pedestrian circulation network ensures smooth connectivity between industrial, administrative, and social functions.

Architectural Design Approach

The architectural language is shaped by the integration of functional efficiency, climate-responsive detailing, and spatial cohesion. The central OSB core is anchored by the Convention Center, flanked by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on one side and the OSB Directorate on the other, interconnected via covered passageways ensuring operational synergy and a cohesive urban-industrial environment.
