Located in the upper section of the Fuzuli region, spanning an area of 1,386 km², the Fuzuli City Hospital project represents a pivotal step in the revitalization and development of modern healthcare services in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region. Formerly known as Karabulak, Fuzuli is a first degree administrative division (rayon), and the hospital’s strategic location near key regional airports—158 km from Ganja Airport, 172 km from Nakhchivan Airport, and 245 km from Heydar Aliyev International Airport—makes it highly accessible to surrounding communities.

The hospital is designed to function as a central hub for advanced medical care, featuring cutting edge medical technology and operated by expert healthcare professionals. Functionally, the complex is composed of multiple interconnected units including polyclinics and gynecology departments, a main treatment building, an emergency care center, pathology and anatomy labs, and auxiliary service areas. This multi layered program ensures that a wide range of medical needs are met under a single, comprehensive healthcare platform.

Fuzuli’s arid steppe climate, classified as BSk in the Köppen-Geiger system, has directly influenced the design choices in terms of ventilation, material selection, and environmental control. The architecture balances durability and aesthetics by employing materials such as ceramic, composite wooden panels, and natural stone offering resilience against harsh weather while reflecting a contemporary architectural expression.

As one of the region’s largest and most technologically advanced health facilities, Fuzuli City Hospital is envisioned not only as a treatment center but also as a beacon of community well-being and regional progress.
