The Adıyaman İndere Master Plan is a comprehensive post-disaster urban regeneration project developed for the Adıyaman İndere Reserve Area following the devastating 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes (7.7 and 7.6 magnitude), which severely affected the city of Adıyaman. The masterplan introduces a resilient, sustainable, and community-oriented urban development strategy designed to provide safe housing while supporting the long-term recovery of the region. Through a two-phase implementation process, the project responds to urgent housing demands while establishing a high-quality living environment for future generations.

The urban design strategy is based on a layered center-periphery system that organizes the settlement around two primary urban centers connected by a continuous green and infrastructure network. Positioned in relation to nearby cultural and heritage assets, these centers accommodate commercial, educational, recreational, and social facilities. A series of secondary neighborhood centers distributes services throughout the development, ensuring accessibility, reducing travel distances, and encouraging daily social interaction. Public pocket parks and shared open spaces are integrated between residential blocks, strengthening community life and creating vibrant public environments.

The Adıyaman İndere Master Plan includes six adaptable residential typologies developed to meet different household needs while allowing flexible implementation across the site. Universal accessibility principles are incorporated throughout the project, with barrier-free pedestrian routes, accessible ramps connecting parking areas and public spaces, efficient stormwater drainage systems integrated with the site’s natural slopes, and retaining walls that transform the existing topography into usable green terraces.

Landscape design plays a key role in enhancing environmental resilience and quality of life. A layered planting strategy combines deciduous and evergreen trees along streets and residential facades, fruit trees within neighborhood gardens, and climbing vegetation on sloped areas to improve biodiversity, provide seasonal shading, and establish comfortable microclimates. Together, the urban planning, architectural, and landscape strategies create a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible neighborhood that supports the sustainable reconstruction of Adıyaman İndere after the 2023
